State's Attorney RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA has dismissed all charges against a Flagler County Detective RICHARD STANLEY PETKOVSEK, a former Deputy of the Year.
At 1:49 on November 23, 2019, RICHARD STANLEY PETKOVSEK allegedly tried to start a fight with a bouncer, cursed him out, cursed out police officers and resisted arrest by St. Augustine Police Officers last year, walking away from them and refusing to provide his ID and slapping the hand of one of the officers, stating, "Don't touch me."
PETLOVSEK first had a public defender assigned after telling the judge he was indigent.
The Public Defender recused himself and the Regional Conflict Counsel was assigned.
Then, St. Johns Law Group lawyer Mark E. Lewis was on the case.
No reason was given for the dismissal of all the charges.
I have requested all documents today.
Like several of his prosecutorial predecessors, 7th Circuit State's Attorney RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA refuses to comply with, adopt or distribute the National District Attorneys Association National Prosecution Standards, which makes case-fixing easier.
Was this case "fixed?"
You tell me.
Why didn't LARIZZA recuse himself?
PETKOVSEK was reportedly suspended 42 days without pay after the arrest.
What if it were you?
Noted for case-fixing ever since the murder of Michelle O'Connell, rebarbative retromingent RALPH JOSEPH LARIZZA has filed to run for re-election as our Seventh Circuit State's Attorney.
